"James Jr. Joseph James is a ghost hunter, sent to the Icarian Swamp by his employer to catch a ghost. The ghost, ‘Sammy’, has been terrorising swamp locals and sending people to their doom. Sammy is said to live in a mansion that sunk below the waters of the swamp.

James arrives at the swamp, wearing his diving suit and with his ghost trapper. An old woman smoking a pipe points him to where the sunken mansion is - “Please hurry!” she says. James dives under the water and explores the house. There are portraits of the people who once lived there, but with their faces obscured. Shadows dance about under torch light. The ground is littered with bones. The chandelier shakes. A bathtub slides from a hole in the ceiling and crashes to the ground. James hears muffled crashes in a nearby room. A dark figure passes a doorway. It’s Sammy! James pursues. He finds himself in darkness, then between the jaws of a giant alligator. This alligator is adorned with necklaces and jewels, strings of diamonds torn from a chandelier. Sammy isn’t a ghost – Sammy is an alligator!

James escapes the water, runs past the old woman with a pipe (who laughs hysterically at James) and runs to a phone box to call his employer.
“Sammy is an alligator, not a ghost! No wonder people have been meeting their fates in this swamp,” James says.
“The ghost who’s been sending people to their doom is most certainly not an alligator, James,” the employer says. “Sammy smokes a pipe. That’s what the witnesses say. Alligators don’t smoke pipes!”
James’ face drops with shock. He drops the phone and looks up to where the old woman was standing. The old woman is gone. But the alligator has surfaced and is lumbering towards James."
