The comic is set in the distant future, where genetic engineering has advanced exponentially. Although only for medical purposes at first, this science is quickly exploited by society for cosmetic enhancements, to boost physical performance, and to enhance mental abilities. Even with hesitance from the medical community, money always finds its way. In our world, the ethical dilemmas of genetic engineering have yet to be resolved by scientists and philosophers, but with Trendy Genes, I wanted to remind the reader that no matter what we achieve scientifically, society remains the same at its core: greedy, selfish, and self-destructive.
